As many as 200 people are expected to attend the Fayette Democratic Women’s annual luncheon and silent auction this month to hear prominent speakers, meet candidates, enjoy live music, and support local non-profits.
You can be there, too. Tickets are on sale now for “Women Will Stand Up, Speak Up, Show Up!” to be held at Flat Creek Country Club in Peachtree City on Saturday, August 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to two organizations devoted to improving the lives of families and veterans: Grandparents and Kin Raising Children, and Discovering Soldiers’ Potential II-Waypoint Sanctuary.
FDW President Pearline Greene said supporting these organizations reflects the famous Helen Keller quote, “Alone we can do so little, together we can do much.”
“That’s what our organization is about,” said Greene. “When the women and men in our organization come together, we do wonderful, sustainable work to support our community.”
Special guest Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms will attend, barring any unforeseen changes in her schedule. The event also features Keynote Speaker Melita Easters, Executive Director of Georgia’s WIN List, and Master of Ceremonies Lisa Rayam, an Emmy Award-winning journalist with the Public Broadcasting System.
Guests will be able to mingle with local candidates while bidding on a range of special auction items, including original art, gift baskets, dining certificates, and golf packages donated by individuals and businesses.
Tickets are $50 and can be bought at Eventbrite.com. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Can’t attend? Why not donate a ticket to a young democrat or to the non-profits being honored?
Contact Karen Rands at 470-210-4947 or firstname.lastname@example.org to request the full sponsorship packet. You can also visit the FDW website at www.fayettedemocraticwomen.org for more information.
