Domestic call results in chase, numerous charges

What started as a response to a domestic call has landed two people in the Fayette County Jail.

Fayetteville Police Department spokesperson Ann Marie Burdett said the incident started on Brookridge Court July 7 with a call about a domestic disturbance. When police arrived, female Jamie Mack, 29 started arguing with the officers and was arrested for interfering with the police and disorderly contact. At the same time, officers believe Mack’s alleged boyfriend, James Carthern, of Atlanta, was in the house, but left.

A short time later, Burdett said a call was received that a car had been stolen from the same address. When police arrived, Carthern was sitting in a vehicle. As police approached, Carthern backed the vehicle up towards the officer and the police vehicle. The incident resulted in a chase, where the police apprehended Carthern, Burdett said he was charged with obstructing law enforcement officers, aggravated assault-other weapon, interference with government property, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, attempting to elude police, aggressive driving, driving on roadway lane for traffic, and failure to yield at a stop sign.
