At Thursday night’s meeting, the County Board of Commissioners will reconsider a rezoning request from 2016 that would clear the way for a subdivision with nearly 100 lots. The rezoning is back before the BOC due to court order.
TSTT Investments and agents Brent Holdings, Donna Black, and Randy Body are petitioning the county to rezone 212.823 acres on Ebenezer Church Road and Davis Road from A-R and R-40 to PUD-PRD for a single-family residential subdivision with 91 homes. Lots would range in size from one to four acres. The plan calls for 34 acres of open space to be preserved, both surrounding and interspersed throughout the neighborhood.
Both staff and the Planning Commission recommend approval the rezoning petition.
The Planning Commission recommendation dates back to their July 7, 2016 meeting. An estimated 20-25 people showed up to speak in opposition, and a petition requesting disapproval of the rezoning with more than 200 signatures was presented.
Randy Boyd represented the petitioners and offered up history of the request. The plot petition dates back to 2005 when it was a planned 182 lots on 268 acres. That petition was denied, and they came back in 2007 with a request for one-acre zoning for 106 lots on 213 acres. Working with staff, that number of lots was dialed back to 91. In a close vote, the Planning Commission voted to recommend approval 3-2.
The request then went before the Board of Commissioners at their July 28, 2016 meeting. The petition was denied 4-1.
