Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic is preparing for the return of a popular event, and they’ll be welcoming a very special guest this year.
Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic’s 13th Annual Gala will be held on Friday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Glendalough Manor in Tyrone. The event includes dinner, live music, dancing, silent, and live auctions. The annual event is a fundraiser to support the critical medical needs of lower-income residents of Fayette County who are uninsured and have no other resource or access to quality healthcare. Sponsors to date are Panasonic Automotive, Piedmont Fayette Hospital, Ankle and Foot Center of Georgia, and Your Pie. In 2017, Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic, with the support of donors and grantors, provided nearly $1.5 million in medical services to their patients. Established in 2005, FCC offers primary care and specialty services in dental, vision, cardiology, dermatology, chiropractic, mental health, patient education and wellness.
Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic (FCC) is a non-profit 501( c )(3) organization whose mission is to eliminate healthcare barriers with compassion and respect for everyone. Because they receive no federal funding and rely on individual, foundation, corporate, and businesses for support, their annual fundraiser is a vital component of their annual revenue.
“This annual event is our major fundraiser of the year, and we hope Fayette County residents will once again support our efforts and your generosity is greatly appreciated,” said Deb Presley-Christensen, Executive Director.
With almost a 4-to-1 return on investment for dollars donated to services provided, Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic with its Board of Directors is a local non-profit with solid, responsible stewardship of its funds.
“This year, we celebrate one of our extraordinary patient stories. Our former patient, Mark Anthony Alexander is the lead singer for The Upscale Band,” said Presley-Christensen. “We are so excited to feature Mark Anthony and his eight-piece band as the live entertainment for the Gala this year. From patient to performer, we can’t wait to celebrate with him in this Full Circle Celebration.”
Mark Anthony Alexander, affectionately known to his family and friends as Mark Anthony, has been a resident of Fayetteville, Georgia for 18 years.
“As self-employed individuals, both me and my wife Portia were responsible for providing our own health insurance. While being insured in April of 2007, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The health insurance provider initially approved the claim for treatment, but then shortly thereafter decided to deny the claim and canceled said policy,” said Alexander. “After proceeding as planned to have my surgery, along with several weeks of radiation, to the tune of over $100,000, my wife and I were bankrupt and had no health insurance. We were eventually referred to Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic, and the clinic picked up treatment from there and the rest is history.
“With a kind staff, they treated us as if we were paying customers. I was able to give back to the clinic by donating my time at a couple of the fundraising events and a promotional video telling the world why Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic is deserving of the financial help they are seeking. It is truly a blessing to have Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic as part of our community.”
The Clinic will present its 2018 Cox-Horton Humanitarian Award to Mahaffey Orthodontics for its contributions in helping Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic improve the lives and welfare of patients in Fayette County. Mahaffey Orthodontics was instrumental to the success of the Annual Golf Tournament last October. Thanks to their support, Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic was able to raise more funds for the clinic than in any other previous golf event.
